Waterproof Rivet:
Tiny but Tough
Oil and gas applications, including everything from vessels and tanks to pipeworks and offshore oil rigs, number among the most popular uses for waterproof aluminium rivets though new uses are constantly being found as technology advances.
They are perfect for use in air conditioning systems, tanks, boats and ship building, vehicles and more!
Water ingress can be the cause of many types of corrosion which can be extremely damaging to the system, necessitating expensive repairs or replacements.
The worse case is when water soaks through the insulation materials firstly causing their performance to reduce, then eventually possibly corroding the pipe.
This is often referred to as corrosion under insulation, the single biggest costs to any oil and gas insulation system.
After an extended period of design, engineering, manufacturing and testing, waterproof sealed blind rivets are now available exclusively to combat the problem.
Specifications
Highly-resistant to many dilute acids, oils, oxidised fuels, ozone, solvents, animal/vegetable fats and sour gases
High resistance to abrasion thanks to added carboxyl group
Will operate perfectly at temperatures between -30°C to + 150°C
No silicon used in production
Resistant to the damaging effects of UV light
Exceptional tensile strength - suitable for high dynamic loads
Traditional rivest, known as "blind" or "pop" rivets, are commonly used in the gas and oil industry, in particular for the isolation of pipes and reservoirs.
Due to the fact that these rivets are not 100% waterproof, the development of these types of rivets is set to revolutionize the oil and gas industry both on land and offshore.
